A friend of mine and I have an ongoing debate about which snubby is uglier, the Centennial or the Bodyguard. The camel hump hammer shroud on the back of the Bodyguard’s frame, while eminently sensible, has never appealed to my eye.

I’m a bit of a caliber snob, but not a mousegun hater. While I acknowledge that shot placement is generally more important than caliber, I object to the truisms that try to make all handguns equal in effectiveness. I just don’t believe that to be true, and I am not willing to tell my readers, “Oh, yeah, your .380 will work as well as a .44 Magnum.” Sorry, but there are real differences in effectiveness, and I cannot in good conscience say otherwise.

Sen. Lautenberg, if you and your gun grabbing friends want “open and honest” why don’t you start by being open and honest about your agenda to disarm law-abiding American citizens in order to establish the all-powerful socialist nanny state. If you want “open and honest” how about admitting that you and your allies are engaged in an incremental campaign make all firearms illegal. That would be a good start. Put your cards on the table and we’ll be happy to have an “open and honest” discussion with you and your fellow drones.

This is a perfect example of why we say the .380 is not adequate as a defensive round. This lack of effectiveness is the rule with this caliber, not the exception.

Constitutional civil rights to mean much if you can’t exercise them. NSSF is taking the lead on helping D.C. residents bring their Second Amendment rights from theory to reality. Hat tip to them!

As the District prepares to fight double-barreled attempts to loosen its gun-control laws, some of the city’s gun rights pioneers have done what folks in Washington do best — they have formed a lobbying group.

About a dozen residents have pledged their support to Capital Gun Owners, a new D.C.-based gun advocacy and education group headed by Northwest resident Amy McVey.

Gun TV

if you do have the digital package with a couple hundred channels, find the Outdoor Channel on Wednesday night. You will be treated to a bunch of my favorite gun broadcasters: Michael Baine with Shooting Gallery, American Rifleman from the NRA, Tom Gresham of Gun Talk, Guns and Ammo TV, and my personal favorite, my bud, Jim Scoutten with Shooting USA and Sighting In.

New Gun Blog Aggregator Site

Gun Blogs is an new aggregator site, meaning they take the feeds from gun blogs and meld them together at a central convenient site.

Xavier has the story.

A good place to start would be to admit that you and the government of Chicago have failed utterly and completely to keep the public safe. Chicago is one of the most dangerous cities in the country. The second step would be to remember that you are a city in the United States and that your citizens have a natural God-given right to an effective self defense. It is clearly specified in the Constitution of this republic, and you cannot ignore it regardless of how hard you may try. Being a nanny city-state isn’t working, hasn’t worked and will never work.
