Nine suspects tied to a Christian militia in the Midwest are charged with conspiring to kill police officers, then attack a funeral in the hopes of killing more law enforcement personnel, federal prosecutors said Monday.

The FBI said Sunday that agents conducted weekend raids in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio and arrested at least three people, and a militia leader in Michigan said the target of at least one raid was a Christian militia group.

And as for poor John Patrick Bedell, had the people around him – his parents and local law enforcement – acted like adults and done the hard work of reeling him in, he might be alive today and two Capitol City police officers wouldn’t be in the hospital.
