This is an extremely positive trend that should be encouraged. I’m a gun rights partisan, not a Republican partisan or a Democrat partisan. Those who further my cause are my friends and those who work against it are not. I would like to see the day when the Democrats stop writing us off as hopeless and the Republicans stop taking us for granted.

Generally, I think it’s untoward and probably bad luck to take pleasure in someone else’s misfortune, but I can’t resist this one. Sen. Frank Lautenberg was taken to the cleaners by scam artist Madoff:

One thing I hate about the recent election is that the grand notion of hope was co-opted into a cheesy campaign slogan. Hope is more than a slogan. Tomorrow the sun will come up. There will be new mysteries to explore, new jokes, new jobs and headaches. There will be possibilities. That’s hope. The logical opposite of hope is despair, and I prefer hope to despair. Maybe I’m a bit foolish in that, but it’s my choice.
