A Known Terrorist

I have been a gun rights advocate for thirty years. At various times, I have been a member of a number of gun-related organizations such as the NRA, Gun Owners of America, The International Defensive Pistol Association, The Kentucky Defensive Pistol League, The Kentucky Coalition to Carry Concealed, and others. I’m a gun owner including a couple of evil black rifles. I have been present on the web since around 1996 as a student of the M1911 pistol and defensive pistol craft. I’m a Christian, a white male, and mostly conservative. I have been harshly critical of candidate Obama in a variety of public forums due to his positions on gun rights and the Second Amendment.

I was at a match recently and one of the shooters is a long-time friend and a recently retired Army Lieutenant Colonel. We got to talking about the election. He said, "You know, if Obama is elected, you’ll go on the ‘known terrorist’ list." "Yes, I know,” I answered, about half seriously.

When I first heard him say that, I thought he was just being dramatic to make sure I voted for McCain (as if I were still on the fence or something). After I left the match, I began to wonder if my friend knew something that I didn’t know. Have we sunk so far in this country that standing up for a constitutionally guaranteed civil right might get your name added to a terror watch list? What does it say that such a thing is even conceivable as a possibility?

The irony is that I love this country. I have always loved this country. I’m actually a fairly peaceful person. The only “terrorism” I’ve ever done was on some moles that made the mistake of burrowing into my back yard. That won’t matter. In the eyes of the Obama myrmidons, I could be an enemy, a dangerous threat to their socialist worker’s paradise.

I could find myself on a terror watch list for honoring an oath I took long ago,
“…to support and defend the Constitution of the United States…”

I’ll be there with you. My credentials aren’t as impressive as your, but I’m a NRA Life member as well as International Defensive Pistol Associations, Western Missouri Shooting Sports Association and life long conservative.

I have friends coming to me for advice on acquiring a Missouri CCW permit. They are scared too. The possibility of what may happen is awakening a lot of folks.

To be honest, I believe MOST 2A, gun, constitution bloggers ARE on a list. The activites we do outside the blogs determines our level on that list. As an FFL who protests the government, quotes Jefferson, writes my politicians, and signs petitions for secession to a “union” of states level I believe I am on at least one list if not a few.

I had a range day with a friend Sunday. This week, I spoke with some folks at the local greasy spoon. Surprisingly, they were more concerned with the aftermath if Obama loses!

I live on the outskirts of a large metro area. The urban criminals are slowly working their way out towards the nearby rural communities. That has made some more of cause and affect, aware of political consequences. Folks are taking notice. And thinking.
