The Moonbat Militia
June 27th, 2006 by Syd
I??m picking up a new phenomenon that is just knocking me out: the moonbats are discovering the Second Amendment. It started with something I found on a lefty blog:
??join the nra and buy at least one gun, and learn how to use it if you do not know how. follow my arguement on this? if there is one thing that will get bushco seriously concerned it would be the 50% of the citizenry that are dead set against them to join the nra and start buying guns by the millions with the express purpose of armed resistance to a fascist takeover? in addition, you will have a gun and know how to use it and CAN be a credible deterrent to a take over.?

Congratulations. It??s about the tyranny, stupid. That??s what it has always been about. When the Klintonistas were massacring children at Waco, you laughed and said the Second Amendment was obsolete, that nobody needed a military rifle; that the Second Amendment was about state regulated militias like the National Guard.
??i’m totally serious here. join the nra and buy a gun. spread this idea far and wide. it will be too late when you are in a haliburton hotel run by blackwater. it’s time to use the second amendment for its intended purpose. defending the contry from tyranny.?
After Ruby Ridge and Waco citizen militias were formed and you called us ??extremists.? We countered with Barry Goldwater??s, ??Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.? You called us paranoid anachronisms. Congratulations on your enlightenment, brasshopper. It??s about the tyranny, stupid.
Then, I found another:
??It will take time, but it’s time to get more left-leaning liberals and outright leftists to at least POSE a threat, by getting organized and getting ARMED. It’s time to get well past this liberal phobia and taboo about weapons and force. After all, our liberalism was won with a REVOLUTIONARY WAR! They used real guns in that war. The French Revolution was also a WAR and they used real weapons there too.? ?? Charles Southwell, ??Arming the Left ?? Is the Time Now?? http://tinyurl.com/59y7e
A liberal who remembers the Revolutionary War, and that they used real guns ?? My wicked little soul is dancing?
??But, it is still a myth that the US citizens are powerless against their government, a government that has become tyrannical and has usurped our democratic rights. We are not powerless against it. If we get organized and armed, and form a force of hundreds of thousands, we can overcome this government, or pose enough of a threat to have power.? Ibid.
Where have I heard this before? Could it be that we are witnessing the birth of the Moonbat Militia? Could it be that a new generation of lefties are just now learning what a previous generation knew all too well? As Chairman Mao said, ??All political power comes from the barrel of gun.? I think this turn of thought is absolutely intriguing.
??So I ask you, isn’t it time that left-leaning liberals and leftists exercised their 2nd amendment rights and got organized and prepared? Isn’t it time, before it’s too late?? ibid.
Hubert Humphrey knew it way back in 1960:
“Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used, and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, and one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible.” Sen. Hubert Humphrey, ??Know Your Lawmakers,? Guns Magazine, Page 4, Feb. 1960.
Holy Cow, Batman! It??s not about duck hunting after all! I find this evolution of thought in our leftist brothers absolutely delightful. I hope it doesn??t come down to ??popping caps? but if elements of the left are discovering a new appreciation for that moldy old Second Amendment, it??s cause for celebration.
Personally, I hope that no U.S. citizens, right or left, ever have to shoot it out with the government. The Second Amendment is to overreaching government power as shall issue concealed carry is to crime: it’s a deterrent. The point is to make the bad guys wonder.
