Lautenberg Gets Skinned By Madoff
December 15th, 2008 by Syd
Generally, I think it’s untoward and probably bad luck to take pleasure in someone else’s misfortune, but I can’t resist this one. Sen. Frank Lautenberg was taken to the cleaners by scam artist Bernard Madoff:
New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg, one of the wealthiest members of the Senate, entrusted his family’s charitable foundation to Madoff. Lautenberg’s attorney, Michael Griffinger, said they weren’t yet sure the extent of the foundation’s losses, but that the bulk of its investments had been handled by Madoff.
Lautenberg’s foundation handed out more than $765,000 to at least 100 recipients in 2006, according to the most recent listing on Guidestar, which tracks charitable organization filings.

Breaks my heart…
Oh, boo-hoo.
**snerk**
But it isn’t Lautenberg who will feel the pain. It will be the recipients of grants from his foundation, the Lappin Foundation, the JEHT Foundation, and other similar charitable groups that will feel the pain.
Just confirms my belief in karma, that no good - or bad - deed will with out just reward.

No matter. He will become another freezer bound politician like that Jefferson guy. Some one will pay him more money. Kind of funny that one guy loots the public to get his money while he is trying to make more money (greed) - another guy loots him.
This might not be the actual situation but the world outside the US will see no pity. Our stock market has been looting outsiders for years. Read Wall Street v. America by Gary Weiss.
Yes the real victims are the people and organizations that depend on this money. Our children will be victims as well since they have to pay off all the riders of pork that are added to every bill passed by Congress. I believe that much of our problem would be solved if Congress would just go home for a few years.
It is about time there is some payback. I’m from Louisiana. We have had William Jefferson and Cleo Fields go unpunished due to a myriad of reasons. One being that they are minority democrats and seemingly immune from prosecution. I hope Lautenberg is broke. Serves him right
