Red’s Trading Post

Red’s Trading Post is a family-owned gunshop in Idaho that the ATF is trying to put out of business over clerical errors and filing issues. Red’s hasn’t been accused of any real wrong-doing. They’re not “gun runners.” The worst accusation that I have heard of is that some guns went unaccounted for during the tenure of a dishonest employee who stole from the company and was terminated. The ATF’s persecution of Red’s looks like an abuse of power to me and a number of other observers:

From Blogonomicon:

JPFO has put up a Red’s Trading Post page at their site, collecting all the pertinent information and history in one place.

You know, if you can’t legislate guns out of peoples’ hands, another way to “control” them is to shut down the gun dealers or make it so difficult for them to operate that they just give up and get into an easier line of work.

The BATFE under the Gonzales Justice Department has grown increasingly hostile and aggressive toward law-abiding gun shop owners, gunsmiths, and manufacturers. I wouldn’t have thought it possible, but it’s true. In some ways, the environment is even more toxic than it was under the ATF of the Clinton years when it was still attached to the Treasury Department. This is especially so for firearms related businesses.
