There are very few gun photographers who can make me jealous, but Oleg Volk is one of them. Behold the Colt Detective Special:

The Colt Detective Special was the first production snubnose revolver chambered in .38 Special and it remains archetypal in the snubby universe. For the history of the Detective Special, click here.
I am an S&W guy for the most part, but there is something magical about these old Colts. I’d like to have a DS, a Cobra, and a Commando.

I just picked up a used nickel plated beautiful Colt Detective. From the serial No. it was manufactured in 1959; it’s almost like new and shoots great. I have a new love affair and my 1911 is jealous!!!.
P.S. I’m a fan of G. Gordon
When I was 12 or so one of the city’s most successful detectives told me that if I was to live by the gun I’d have two - a .45 (1911) and a snub nose .38. Fourty years and many, many guns later the 2 that remain in ‘ready’ condition are - a Cobra and a Combat Commander. To think of the money I could have saved if I had just listened.
