Kentucky friends, if you value the 2nd Amendment and your right to keep an bear arms, then you MUST take a look at this.  It is a bill designed to regulate, not firearms, but ammunition!  Here is a link to the bill and I have also copied it at the end of this email.  Contact your state representative immediately and let them know you strongly oppose this bill!

Kentucky House Bill 715 (MS Word document)

Remember how Obama said that he wasn’t going to take your guns?  Well, it seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture and recorded in a data base of all ammunition sales.  So they will know how much you buy and what calibers.  Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.  (Including hand loaded ammo.)  They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!
If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states:  Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!!

UPDATE: My sources tell me that our friends in the Kentucky State Legislature have “killed” the ammo encoding bill. I’m not at liberty to say who is responsible for this chivalrous act, but if you want to send a big “OORAH” to the rep from the 39th District, it will be OK.

I sent Mitch my appreciation for the big three bail out turn down and why I thought the ammunition encoding bill was wrong for Kentucky.

I sent the following to KY lawmakers. I hope it helps.

I am writing in concern of KY house bill 715 which concerns the taxing and encoding of ammunition and the destroying of handloaded ammo. I am not a current citizen of KY but it is my home state and I still travel there and have a hunting lease in Taylor CO and family property in Pulaski CO. I am a federal employee and will be moving back to in 2011. I urge lawmakers to look at this bill. The encoding has been proven faulty, in fact the proposed bill states that it is moderatly accurate. All this bill will do is punish the law abidding people of KY and those who vacation there. Regardless of ones political opinion about Obama, law makers need to look at the facts and see that this bill will not solve crime it will not get guns off the street. The criminls that use guns steal them from law abiding people who could in turn be arrested if thier stolen gun is used in the crime. I know this because I am a federal officer and deal with violent criminals every day and know this is how they think and operate. I hope that KY lawmakers will send a clear message that rights of KY citizens and those that travel there are to be protected!!

    Return to the form.
