Slaughter in Chicago

“Joe Jackson forced a security guard at gunpoint to take him up to the 38th floor offices of Wood, Phillips, Katz, Clark & Mortimer, which specialized in intellectual property and patents. He carried the revolver, a knife and hammer in a large manila envelope and chained the office doors behind him, police said”
… “He had already shot four people. He had reloaded his gun,” Cline said Saturday. There were 25 to 30 other people on the floor at the time
…Jackson, 59, told witnesses before he was shot that he had been cheated over a toilet he had invented for use in trucks, Police Superintendent Phil Cline said Saturday…

Three innocent people died and a fourth was wounded. The serfs of the Kingdom of Chicago have to endure this kind of abuse because they are prohibited by law from even owning handguns, and carry concealed? Fuggitaboutit. An interesting detail of this situation is that the city council members have a loophole written into the law for them — they can carry guns or request armed bodyguards at the city’ expense if they choose to. To me, this is the Nth degree of hypocrisy. And of course, hizzoner, the Mayor Daly Jr., can avail himself of all the armed bodyguards he wants. But poor old common Working Joe? Fuggitaboutit. I think the Mayor and the city council of Chicago should be held criminally liable for these deaths.
The Illinois State Rifle Association plans to introduce shall issue concealed carry legislation in the next session. I wish them all the luck in the world, but I’m not overly optimistic. Says ISRA:
“This tragedy underscores the fact that we live in a violent world - a violent world where individuals bent on committing murder and mayhem will take great lengths to evade the law and thwart even the most sophisticated security systems in order to commit their barbaric deeds.
As home to some of the nation’s leading financial service companies, the Citigroup Center employs state of the art security hardware and comprehensive security procedures to protect its tenants. Nonetheless, Friday’s gunman was able to muscle his way through a security checkpoint, travel to the 38th floor of the building, chain the doors to the law office shut, and methodically execute 3 people — all for the sake of a disagreement over, of all things, a toilet seat.
With their only means of escape chained and padlocked shut by the gunman, the 30 or so workers in the law office became the proverbial “fish in a barrel.” Had the police not intervened so swiftly, the gunman could have continued on his rampage, unimpeded, until he either ran out of ammunition, or until he ran out of victims to kill.
One has to wonder how the outcome may have differed had any of the law office staff been trained and licensed to carry a defensive firearm. Unfortunately, the answer to that question will remain unknown as Illinois is one of only 2 states in the nation that prohibit law abiding citizens from carrying firearms as a means of self defense. Indeed, the outcome would be hard to predict, but at least the people in that office would have been given a fighting chance to survive.”
I don’t think I can say it any better than that.
I of course support the efforts of any individual or group to introduce concealed carry legislation in any state that doesn’t allow for same.
But in the case of states like Illinois, where the citizen’s “masters” are, and have been, unfriendly to any possibility of legal self-defense by the masses, perhaps introducing legislation that forbids any and all mayors, city councilmen, legislators and off-duty policement from carrying weapons or employing armed guards paid for with taxpayers money would be more likely to pass.
It shouldn’t be much of a stretch to convince the citizens that, if guns aren’t necessary for the general population, and the citizens should be content with the alleged “protections” from dialing 911, the city fathers shouldn’t require a different level of protection. Also, off-duty police men shouldn’t require a “special” level of protection, if all that is necessary for the safety of the people is for uniformed, on-duty officers to carry guns. If the police can protect people, they should be able to protect ALL of the people EQUALLY.
After all, if these people truly believe that an individual doesn’t “need” the protection from carrying a gun, why should they “need” a different level of protection than the average citizen?
If that sort of legislation was passed by a referendum in the state, you can bet that there would suddenly be a change to allow John Q. Citizen to carry a concealed weapon.
As long as the sheeple allow their “masters” a separate and distinct level of protection, nothing will change.

When are the people of Illinois going to stop voting these people back in office. It just doesn’t make any sense. The Governor is as bad as the Mayor and the alderman are dead set against letting the citizens protect themselves. Crime is so bad in some places that the police don’t even go into them. I hope the families of the victims sue their their ass off and the people quite voting these jerks back into office. This is so terrible it is behond words.
I worked and lived in Ill for 29 years and for the life of me I could not understand why the people would keep sending these people back to keep murdering the people of Ill. I now live in Az and thank God I can protect myself and family here wake up you there in Ill
City council should read John Lott’s Book: More Guns, Less Crime.
Fact is, those legislators prohibiting Illinois’ good citizens from carrying weapons are guilty of murder.
Will a pro gun candidate run, if only to get the message out that armed citizens reduce crime and help economic development?
Chicago, NYC, Wash DC, Gary Indiana, California…can’t carry here and look at the crime rates.
So by some strange twist of fate, the Chicago plutocracy decide to allow the great unwashed masses to defend themselves. They still are rendered defenseless by their company’s zero tolerance “no weapons” policy.
An individual, trained and licensed to carry a firearm, must leave it at home or risk being fired. Companies don’t allow firearms in a personal automobile in their parking lot yet alone inside their building.
“Thank you for defending everyone against that crazed gunman and saving us all. But I’m afraid that you violated the company’s ‘no weapons’ policy so we are going to have to let you go.” What sense does that make? Some companies are so hoplolophobic that they hire unarmed security guards. Do you know what you call an unarmed guard?…….A target.
The Second Amendment doesn’t mention anything about asking permission from the State. You have a right to bear arms, period. Concealed carry legislation is nothing more than an additional tax and a way to register gun owners.
All gun laws are unconstitutional. Unless the people wake up to this fact……..well, I can dream, can’t I?
Where’s the ACLU? Why aren’t they jumping up and down and taking Mayor Daly to court for violations of the 2d Amendment? Or do they just sure corporations because there’s money in that? Seems to me they are a bad as the legislators that “infringe” on our Constitutional rights.
I live in the south, GA, and I carry a gun! I am a college educated, US Army veteran, card carrying NRA member, and CCW licensed. I say that for several reasons, I am in my 40’s income in the 60’s clean cut and conservative. Had this happened in my work place the same event would have unfolded, as my employer feels that banning us from keeping a weapon in our vehicle makes it safer for all. I am an expert marksman, thank you Uncle Sam, in both pistol and rifle. But little will save you if you dont have your weapon when its needed. I would put up a good fight using my combat stapler and 3 hole punch, but you dont bring a stap[ler to a gun fight. Statistics have shown and proven everytime, that where guns are outlawed , then only the lawless will use firearms.
Politicians and liberals, they dont want the population to have any power. They want us compliant and easy to control. Well not in my state and not in my lifetime. I will not go to Kalifornia, Washington DC, Maryland, Rhode ISland, NYC Illinois, Loserana ( louisiana ), and I will not fly. WE only have to look at history, first the government attempts to disarm the populace, then they move to totalitarian statehood. We were founded on the principals that we have the right to say what we want, think how we will, worship God and Jesus, and carry a gun to protect those rights.
When asked why God appeared to have abandoned the people of the terrible state of Louisiana, a religious leader remarked, ” yall have told God to stay out of the schools, out of the Government and out of your lives. Being the considerate being that he is, he was simply following the wishes of the people.”
We have become complacent, placated , and soft. We eat fast food, watch fast shows, and work a 40 hr week .
Our founding fathers , worked their ass off, 40 hours was about mid day Wednesday, they didnt gripe about overtime, sick leave, and paid vacation. The worked until the job was done.
I urge you this holiday season, forget the walmart rush, stay home with your family. spend the day in the kitchen baking cookies, telling stories about your parents, and grandparents, send a car package to a soldier or his family. If you go online, find the constitution and read it, really read it. It makes a lot of sense.
This is a real travesty….and every time it happens. If we want travesties like this to stop, I think we ought to sue all legislators, mayors, governors, presidents, corporations, politicians every time something like this happens. If we, the people do this, eventually the listed will be forced to listen to us.
I think that we, the people would have to name everyone on the above list in a suit on a national basis. Impossible. I don’t know. Has anyone tried it?
Will it cost money? Sure it will. Do we have money? Most of us don’t. Most of us live pay day to pay day. But if we sacrificed buying a pack of cigarettes, or a box of cartridges and put that money towards filing and carrying thru the suit thru the courts, something might happen. What the heck, there’s something like 70 million (or so) gun owners in this country.
Will we win? Who knows. The way the present power moguls have had the general populace brain washed that tools (guns) are bad, it could be iffy.
Will we win? We might stand a chance if we, the people, file suit every time a shooting such as this happens.
What the hell, the anti-gunners tried using this tactic to sue the arms manufacturers. This tactic was done against big tobacco, too. That worked after a fashion. People still smoke, though. And the tobacco companies still sell cigarettes.
If the gun organizations like the NRA and Citizens Committee to Bear Arms, the state pro-gun groups could all pull together, we could get attention.
Otherwise, I can foresee a bloody gun confiscation coming in a few years.
