Well, Gov. Taft acted like the typical anti-civil rights weenie that he is and vetoed the concealed carry reform bill in Ohio. Let’s just hope the legislature has the stones to override the veto.

Said Taft:

“I think they’re overreaching,” Taft said Thursday, in a meeting with Dayton Daily News editors and reporters.

He said he was willing to work with gun advocates on fine-tuning the concealed-carry law â?? and in fact law enforcement was doing that â?? but that without any real debate and discussion the bill turned into a total preemption of all local gun laws.

“Where did this come from? What’s the need for this law? … What’s the case for that? I didn’t see the case for it,” Taft said.

Baloney, Taft. Pure Baloney. Only an elitist who enjoys the benefit of armed bodyguards and hates the Constitution could fail to see that, yes, the case has been made and made again.

UPDATE: The Ohio House voted 71-21 to override his veto today just before 2:30pm! The Ohio Senate will get it’s chance next, possibly not until next week, where we need twenty votes to override. For contact info for Ohio senators, click here.

Being a Spartan, I don’t say this very often, but:

    Go Ohio State (Senate)!

It makes Michigander CCW’s like me much more willing to come to or through Ohio (like on the way to visit the in-laws in FL) when the gun laws make sense.

Gov. Taft, I hope the Ohio Senate does the right thing and gives you the backhand across the face you deserve!
