Kids: Love ‘em, love ‘em, and love ‘em some more. That’s what counts. In the long run, what the teachers and the cops say doesn’t matter (although it can be expensive in the near-term). Teachers and cops are evil. Their job is to enforce conformity and pound the individuality out them. But when it comes to being the people your kids are meant to be, the cops and teachers are nowhere to be found. They’ve done their damage and moved on to new victims. What will get your kids through is the love and the identity you have given them. Whose words do they hear when their backs are to the wall? Whose grace and courage do they try to emulate? These are the things that matter, and when they are much older, they will tell you the words of iron that you gave them, and it will stun you because you won’t even remember it — it was just you being you, but it burned into the center of their souls and stayed there, and their souls grew around those words of power that you didn’t even realize you were giving them.
