Word Press Early Review

I’m really liking Word Press. It’s the blog software I’m running here. It’s easy to set up, very functional and free. If you have your own site with a MySQL server on it, you can have it up and running literally in a matter of minutes. Installation simply involves entering your MySQL configuration info into the config file and opening the install page with your browser. That’s it. Then there are lots of “themes” to chose from that personalize how the blog looks and lays out. These are extremely easy to install too. I understand that there are hosting options for people who don’t have their own web sites, but I haven’t explored those since it was more fun to play uber-geek and put it on my own site. I also like having full access to my content via the SQL server, rather than depending on a capricious entity like Google to maintain it for me. Kudos to Word Press, and “Hasta la vista, baby” to Blogger/Google.

Yep, definitely liking it — the way it looks, the controls, the way it organizes. “I still don’t know what I was waiting for…”
